Islam Jaran is a violinist from Jordan, trained in Middle Eastern as well as classical music. He recently moved to Malmö where new friends and musical meetings rapidly evolved. In this lunch concert we will join him in his meetings with musicians of different musical traditions - from the Middle East to Sweden.

TARABBAND

Arabic music from Sweden - and even Malmö - , Tarabband has created a musical language of its own, in which the band tells stories that moves its audiences in Sweden, the Middle East and everything in between. Tarabband is based in our own Malmö, which makes us a bit extra proud, and over the 15 years and 5 album that the band has existed they have won several awards.

World-renowned singer Angélique Kidjo has cross-pollinated the West African traditions of her childhood in Benin with elements of American R&B, funk and jazz, as well as influences from Europe and Latin America. She is a recipient of the 2023 Polar Music Prize.
This time Kidjo sings in the good company of Malmö's own Malmö Symphony Orchestra, and we dare to promise an experience out of the ordinary.

For almost a decade Floating Sofa Quartet (FSQ) has been working across borders with their own take on Nordic folk music – shedding light on the shared cultural heritage of the Nordic countries and creating music that is both preserving and renewing their tradition(s).
Now FSQ joins forces with the renowned Norwegian fiddler Guro Kvifte Nesheim to take a plunge into the kindred musical traditions of the coastal regions of Norway, Sweden, Denmark & Finland!
